One of the most used collections at San Francisco Public Library is the "San Francisco Office of Assessor-Recorder Photographs", which contains over 94,000 photographs of properties in the city taken by the Office of Assessor-Recorder from the late 1940s to the early 2000s. These photographs reveal the history and architecture of San Francisco, as well as the lives of its residents and businesses.
