Charlie Chaplin opened Chaplin Studios in 1918. Most of his known films were mainly shot on the premises and in the area. For Instance, his 1919 silent short film "A Day's Pleasure" starts off with Chaplin and his fictional wife and kids trying take off in their clunky car outside the back corner of Chaplin's Studios.
