Deep-sea hovercraft 🛸✨ The Pacific white skate, Bathyraja spinosissima, is a large skate found in deep water rocky habitat, at depths of up to 2,900 meters (9,500 feet). Skates are found throughout the world ocean, from shallow coastal waters to the open ocean, but are rarely observed in deeper environments. Shallow-water skates are better studied, but knowledge of the deeper diving species in this group is limited. That’s because a lot of information comes from animals brought up in trawl nets

But what is a big skate?! They are a species of skate which are flat-bodied fish found along the Pacific coast of North America. They somewhat resemble swimming flat diamonds as their fins extend the length of their bodies!
