Levophed, aka norepinephrine, is a medication commonly used for low blood pressure. Levophed belongs to a class of medications known as vasopressors or adrenergic agonists. Levophed acts primarily on alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction of blood vessels, which leads to an increase in systemic vascular resistance and subsequently an elevation in blood pressure.
